The Basics
For starters, you might be surprised to learn that DeLucia.org is a fairly basic website, built from the ground up using fundamental DHTML practices (basic HTML, JavaScript and Style Sheets). Our site is WYSIWYG free!

We use Server Side Includes (SSI) wherever we can to ensure consistency across the site (e.g.. headers & footers) and to simplify updates to certain areas (e.g.. home page “Headlines” and “New & Noteworthy” links). Our B.B.S. and our Guestbook are all built using various scripts that can be found free on the web.

Our Tool-kit
Our “tool-kit” starts with Macromedia HomeSite, a terrific product for text-based HTML scripting. HomeSite has a wealth of features that make easy work of building and maintaining a website. All of our graphics are created using Adobe PhotoShop. Our graphics are then “optimized” for the web using Adobe ImageReady, which is bundled with PhotoShop. And to make things more interesting, more practical and just plain more fun we use JavaScript.

Our home page rollover effects, including the connection to the dynamic descriptions from the links is done with JavaScript. Our “Today's Quote” and our “Think About It” features as well as our “Dates to Remember” are all managed with JavaScript. The cool way the left-hand side navigation bar “follows” you up and down the page — JavaScript!

Our splash page is done with Macromedia Flash. Most of what we use is extremely simple to create.

A Word About Browser Compatibility
DeLucia.org was designed for a screen resolution of 800x600 with 64K colors or greater. It has been designed to comply with accepted browser standards and has been tested for functional compatibility with Netscape Communicator 4.7 and above and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 and above.

Unfortunately, Netscape can be a bit quirky, especially with their implementation (or lack thereof) of some of the development techniques that DeLucia.org relies on — as a result, you'll have the best DeLucia.org experience with Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
